28/02/2024 - The second day of our Hikikomori Training of Trainers Programme was equally engaging, with a focus on developing social skills and proposing solutions for the hikikomori phenomenon. During the training, we collaborated with our teachers to raise awareness about hikikomori.
As part of the program's continuation, participating teachers will engage with students in their schools to discuss the hikikomori phenomenon. We also conducted a question-and-answer session to evaluate the second day together. At the end of the day, participants received certificates for completing the Training of Trainers.
We are dedicated to continuing our efforts to raise awareness about hikikomori and support our young people.
27/02/2024 - The first day of the Hikikomori Training of Trainers in Istanbul organized by the project partner IFSS from Türkiye.
Teachers and youth workers from various schools in Istanbul participated in our two days program. Beyond the Doorstep Project and the hikikomori phenomenon was introduced.
We learned about the Hikikomori Phenomenon, its symptoms and behavioral background. All group did enjoyable non-formal activitys to keep our energy high during during the day. Additionally, we examined a Hikikomori case in detail and watched a short movie to understand the subject. We finished the day with question and answer time.
Our first day was both enjoyable and enjoyable for us youth workers :)

21/02/2024 - Here are some of the highlights of Part 2 – “Training of Trainers” in Tirana
□The participants got the opportunity to explore in depth the Hikikomori profile and case studies. Discussions followed with the first signs noticed in schools and community surroundings of Hikikomori in Albania.
The urge for actions on this matter was emphasized to prevent escalation.
More efforts are needed to spread awareness about this silent phenomena that is all round us.
19/02/2024 - Guess what happened in Tirana….
The first part of the Training of Trainers was held in the frame of the “Beyond the Doorstep” project.
It highlighted the importance of understanding the phenomenon of Hikikomori from various cultural and social perspectives. Teachers, social workers, psychologists, youth workers discussed the need for interventions to prevent the spark of the syndrome in Albania.

08/02/2024 - Yesterday we continued our journey of our project “Beyond the Doorstep” going for the second time in a school in Cesena, Italy. Here we had the opportunity to further develop the acknowledgement about the Hikikomori topic, raising the awareness of around 60 students of the school. In addition to speaking about what Hikikomori are and proposing ways to face this kind of problem, we have entertained and involved the students to express their emotions and to engage with them. Seeing how kids feel about themselves has given us a lot of satisfaction and we hope to have left a positive impact and to have given them the tools to really think about their emotions.
02/02/2024 - Yesterday we started February with the first local workshop of our project ‘Beyond the Doorstep’ in a school in Cesena, Italy. We had the pleasure of presenting our knowledge about Hikikomori to around 60 students, who attended and enjoyed all our cool activities about this phenomenon. This aspect of the project is really giving us a lot of satisfaction. Being able to share our work and put it into practice with teenagers makes our mission possible, which is to be the loudspeaker on what’s not usually talked about. On this occasion, we did the practical part, but next week we will go deeper into the theoretical one.
27/12/2023 - The December 2023 edition of the newsletter about the "Beyond the Doorstep" Erasmus + project has been published. It releases information about international meetings where discussion on Hikikomori phenomenon together with our partners from Italy, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Turkey where held.
In 1978 Hikikomori is defined as "neurosis of withdrawal", and in the 1980s as "school rejection syndrome" (Kasahara, 1978). According to the definition of the International Research Group, Hikikomori refers to "the state of avoiding social engagement (friendly interactions, educational and business tasks) with the goal of persistent retreat to one's own home for a minimum of 6 months as a result of many factors. “ (Saito, 2008).
07/12/2023 - On December 6th, we did the second part of our training for the 'Beyond the Doorstep' project in Reggio Emilia, Italy. It was filled with cool activities that helped us understand hikikomori even better. We're learning more about hikikomori and the stories behind it, going deeper than before. Our project is all about sharing these details and shining a light on what's not usually talked about. Your support means a lot to us. 25/10/2023- On the 24th and 25th of October 2023, we held the international meeting of the project Capacity building "Beyond the doorstep" in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
In this meeting, we had the chance to talk deeply about the surrounding environment of the hikikomori, especially school and teachers. Our guest Doctor Maria Laura Trifilò from Hikikomori Italia helped us to better go deep into the topic.
This meeting was the closing event of the overall international meetings of the project.
We are waiting for the next stage of the project, which is the local training of trainers.

- We recently held the international meeting in Sarajevo for the project Beyond the doorstep, where we had the honour of being invited by Deputy Major Samir Avdić for a face to face meeting.
Menssana Association hosted us in the beautiful context of the city of Sarajevo.
We also had the chance to attend the workshop held by Doctor Giulia Adorante, psychologist from @hikikomoriitalia

07/06/2023 - On the 22nd and 23rd of May we held the first international meeting of the project Capacity building "Beyond the doorstep" in Tirana, Albania.
In this meeting we had the chance to talk about the phenomenon of in a more detailed way and we had an exchange with local youth workers.
Our guest Doctor Rosanna D'Onofrio from Hikikomori Italia helped us to better go deep into the topic of hikikomori and social withdrawal.
12/05/23 - We recently began the implementation phase of the Capacity Building project "Beyond the doorstep".
The project has four partners: @peopleinfocusalbania from Albania, @udruzenjemenssana from Bosnia & Herzegovina, IFSS from Turkey and @younetit from Italy.
It aims at raising awareness among youngsters and schools about Hikikomori and social withdrawal, and we will cooperate with the partners for 24 months.
